Škoda Superb 2nd gen. comes to market in 2008. Since 2009, the new Škoda Superb is also available as a station wagon. With its 4,84 meters, 181,5 cm wide and 146 cm high, the Škoda Superb looks impressive. The rear has a double opening of the rear door. The Twindoor concept allows a special boot opening, and it is possible to open all five doors, which gives the Škoda Superb good functionality. The trunk has a volume of 565 liters, and with lowered seats 1670 liters.
Standard security equipment is included seven airbags, while two more can be paid. At the Euro NCAP crash test, the new Škoda Superb won the highest mark. There are three trim levels: Ambition, Comfort and Elegance.
Quality trim and spaciousness is what sets the Skoda Superb 2nd gen apart. The steering wheel position is comfortable as it is adjustable in depth and height. The steering is precise and responsive, with a long wheelbase of 276 cm contributing to ride comfort. The suspension is softer than in the Passat, but the Superb handles the bends well, with moderate tilting and easy control.
From the gasoline engines are available 1.4-liter 125hp, 1.8 TSI 160hp and the strongest gasoline engine 3.6-liter V6 with 260hp, which comes with all-wheel drive and DSG gearbox.
The diesel engines available with the Skoda Superb 3T are: 1.9 TDI with 105 hp and a fuel consumption of 5,6 liters per 100 kilometers. That 2010 engine was replaced by a 1.6-liter diesel engine and consumption was reduced to 4,4 liters per 100 kilometers. The diesel engine is available with a 2.0 liter 140 hp, and in 2010 it was replaced by a 2.0 TDI engine with 170 hp. All engines come with a six-speed manual gearbox, except for the 1.9-liter engine that comes with a fifth-speed transmission. Six degrees DSG automatic transmission is available with the following engines: 3.6 petrol engine, 2.0 TDI 140 and 2.0 TDI 170.

We also peeked into the service statistics of the German ADAC and did not encounter significant criticism. In the red zone, there are only the first two years of production, during which there was a slightly higher number of complaints about chain tension in the 1.4 TSI petrol, injection irregularities in the 2.0 TDI diesel and failure of the speedometer hand. For models with a DSG transmission, a recall has been made, to install new software, and - that’s it. All other sections have remained in the green zone, which means that even early specimens, even those with higher mileage, remain flawless and in good shape for a long time.
At its highest price and reputation is the 2.0 TDI diesel engine (140 and 170 hp), first with a pump-injector injection system and then common-rail, as the best compromise of consumption, performance and durability. Initially, the 1.9 TDI (105 hp) was installed, replaced in 2010 by a smaller and quieter, but equally efficient and cleaner 1.6 TDI (105 and 120 hp). The redesign was done in 2013 and the Superb got a more likable look then. Excellent turbocharged TSI engines (1.4,1.8 and 2.0), as well as a large 3.6 V6 FSI.
