The compact Seat Altea compact van has been on the market since 2004. A family car with a sports character. It is built on a VW platform the same as Audi A3, VW Golf and a Seat Leon with a wheelbase of 2578 mm.
The first classic model has a length of 4280 mm, while the Altea XL, which comes on the market in 2006, has a length of 4467 mm.
The Seat Altea was designed under the watchful eye of Walter de Silva and appeared on the market as a real refreshment. One of the starting points of the design was for the ratio of metal and glass to be 2: 1.
In 2007, the Altea Freetrack is also available - customers can choose between front and all-wheel drive, the mudguards are 'matted' and the entire car is taller and wider by 20 mm.
Standard models have a 410-liter luggage compartment, and with the seats lowered it increases to 1320 liters. The longer Altea XL also has a larger trunk volume of 530 liters.
Seat Altea scored the highest mark on the Euro NCAP crash test for safety, making it the first Seat with the highest rating. The standard safety rating includes front airbags for driver and front passenger, side airbags and head airbags as well as ABS, while stability control is included on standard equipment only on new models. Achieving compelling performance is aided by high-quality suspension, at the back of the multilink, which showed high performance in about twenty models, from the Audi A3 to Volkswagen Tourana. Driving performance is also enhanced by the powerful 280 mm front disc brakes and precise and responsive steering, which provides Altei with arguably the best dynamic performance in the class.
The weakest gasoline engine is the 1.4 16V with 85 hp, which seems quite congested.
The next is a 1.6hp 102-liter gasoline engine that won't impress you with its performance, but it won't surprise you with breakdowns as it is one of the most reliable gasoline engines. However, its consumption in the city is about 12 liters per 100 kilometers. The more powerful gasoline engine The 2.0-liter FSI 150hp engine consumes just as much as the 1,6-liter, and draws just as well because it has direct injection. This engine is a good choice if you drive a little.
The Altea FR, which has been on the market since 2006, comes with a 2.0 TFSI 200hp engine that offers excellent performance.
Of the diesel engines, the weakest is the 1.9 TDI with 105hp, which is quite noisy, but is economical. The more powerful engine is the 2.0hp 140 TDI, which consumes about 8 liters in the city and 5,5l on the open road. Unfortunately, problems with nozzles, flywheels and oil pumps are common.
The engines are paired with a five or six speed manual transmission, while the 2.0 TFSI engine is available with a Tiptronic transmission.
At the beginning of 2010, the 1.9 TDI was replaced with a 1.6 TDI engine, which thanks to the Start & Stop system has CO2 emissions of 119g / km, and a 2.0 TDI engine with 138 hp is included in the choice of engine. A 1.2 TSI engine with 104 hp using Ecomotive technology is also available. Both diesel engines are available with DSG transmission.
