Honda SH-AWD system
One was the Honda Fleet, the Legend model, and the other was a four-wheel drive. Honda generally does not work too hard in the upper class, as it has its own luxury Acura division, but its counterpart is the Legend model, which unfortunately never played an important role in the German premium three class, although it had a lot of engineering to offer.
The high-volume engine in this class is, of course, the case V6 engine from the start, but over time, competition has grown with power and other technical innovations. Another feature of the Honda, which is the front-wheel drive, in this class should somehow be annulled. The third generation of Legend, code KB1, was the solution found in the sophisticated SH-AWD system, which gave the Legend with its original front-wheel drive road characteristics and a safe ride worthy of competition with the rear-wheel drive.
The SH-AWD system is based on the following concept: Legend is primarily a V6 front-wheel drive model, but also has a rear differential connected by a PTO. While driving, the front-wheel drive is used for both power transmission and steering. Honda engineers have come up with a solution to the typical front traction problem in the curve, giving the rear wheels more torque in the curve when needed, with the outer rear wheel getting more torque than the inside.
There are two electromagnetic clutches in the rear differential that regulate the engine torque at that moment and its transmission to the rear axle. The general setting for transmitting power to the axles is 70% (front): 30% (rear) or 30% (front): 70% (rear) in the front / rear axle template. However, while the concept looks similar to the 4wd systems seen so far, the SH-AWD has the ability to transfer power to the rear axle in the pattern 100% (left): 0% (right) or 0% (left): 100% (right) .
To best represent this, let's take a look at Honda's official video on the powerful SH-AWD system
