The racing version Damage The 110 R Coupe was introduced in 1975 to make a number of successes in European rally and racetrack racing in the coming years.
One year before the premiere of the 130 RS model, Skoda made three prototypes with the 200 RS mark.
However, as these cars did not meet the new competition regulations, the Czech manufacturer developed it Too bad 130 RS (Rally Sport) weighing only 720 kg.
Such light weight was achieved by the fact that some body parts, such as door panels, roof and hood, were made of aluminum, while other elements, such as fenders, were made of fiberglass reinforced plastic.

The front axle of the car was taken from the prototype 200 RS and the rear was brand new.
The construction of the vehicle is based on the standard Škoda 110 R. A four-cylinder 1.3-liter petrol engine with 140 "horsepower" was used for propulsion, and power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.
Initially, there was a 5-speed variant, but it was dropped in 1976 due to changes in competition rules. The car could produce an enviable 220 km / h.

Škoda The 130 RS proved to be superior at the outset, when it occupied the first three positions in the competition for the Czechoslovak Cup in the 1975 season.
In the following years, international achievements in prestigious races were also recorded.
The most important result was achieved in 1981 by winning the title in the European Turing Car Championship.

The Škoda 130 RS was also celebrated on the international rally stage. A version designed for this type of competition, the first international victory was achieved in 1976, in the debut season, to record a double victory in 1977 in the Monte Carlo rally, in the category up to 1300 cc.
A year later, Skoda also won the rally in Sweden, and in 1980 this car took the top five places in the Barum Rally.

Thanks to the results achieved in the 70s and 80s of the 20th century, the Škoda 130 RS was also known as the "Porsche from the East".
The sports heritage of the Skoda 130 RS is present today in the Octavia RS 230, which is powered by a 2.0-liter 230 hp TSI motorm.
This car is capable of accelerating from place to hundred in 6,7 s, while the top speed is electronically limited to 250 km / h.
