Just as people need warmer wardrobes in the winter, so do cars need special preparation. Given that winter is approaching, it would not be too bad for drivers to prepare a little. Car maintenance and preparation can sometimes literally save your life.

Here are the most important things to do and check before winter.

1. Winter tires. Winter tires are required from November 1 to April 1 in snow and ice conditions. Get them on time. Those who have them should check the depth of the pattern, which should not be less than 4mm. Check your tire pressure regularly, especially when temperatures are low. High-quality winter tires are better suited for easier handling and braking during winter days. This is one of the things that should not be saved! Be sure to check the condition and pressure in the spare tire as well.
2. Antifreeze. Check the level of antifreeze in the pan and its freezing temperature. It will prevent your engine block from crashing. Do not wait for temperatures to drop below 0 ° C! If you have not changed your antifreeze for at least 3 years, be sure to do so. Check all other fluids as well.
3. Battery. Check the battery and its charging system. Low temperatures and humidity are very exhausting for a battery and complete electrical installation. In addition, be sure to carry ignition cables from the battery of another car in the trunk.
4. Svetla. Make sure all the lights on your car are correct. It is one of the primary things that allow you to see and be seen on the road. Coldness and humidity affect lamp life.
5. Wipers. In the winter months, wipers are used a lot. Due to the cold and dirt on the glass, they often harden and damage. Make sure they delete properly, it is best to replace them. Pour winter glass windshield washer fluid, which does not freeze. Do not mix it with the old - summer, but wear out the old one first.
6. Engine oil. Quality and clean engine oil will protect your engine from damage during cold starts. Use oil according to the manufacturer's specification for your engine. When changing engine oil, be sure to replace the filter.
7. Belts and hoses. Check all motor belts and hoses. Old, rigid and brittle tires will not withstand cold temperatures. Don't let yourself stay on the road for a piece of 1000 din!
8. Cabin filter. Change the climate filter (cabins) before winter. The air flows through it even when the ventilation is on, not just the climate, which is almost constant during the winter. The dirt and bacteria that have accumulated during the summer and fall can easily get from the dirty filter to the cabin when you switch on the ventilation.
9. Protection of paint. Rain, snow and salt create damage to the paint. After washing, protect the paint with a layer of wax. This will keep the paint clean and retain its old shine.
10. Just in case. Prepare anything that can help you in the event of you being left stranded, or malfunctioning somewhere along the way. These include an ice scraper, snow chains, small shovel, flashlight, blanket, candle, gloves, matches, water bottle, candy bar and first aid kit. Also, it would not be a bad idea to have a car charger for your mobile phone as well. You should carry your phone constantly, so that you can call for help in an emergency.

Although you hate to do all this, most things can be done within minutes. The point is not only to read the text, but to do something REALLY DO IT!
