November - the beginning of winter for cars

Before every winter, responsible drivers and those who do not want to have problems with their car make the necessary preparations for the colder weather.

winter

You need to allow the car to switch to winter mode more easily. In addition to saving it that way, you will also save your background from some unforeseen situations that occur during the cold months. Here we mean the prevention of squatting next to the car while it is minus outside, as well as other annoying problems that come with the cold. That is why we have decided to give a kind of reminder for preparing vehicles for cold days within this text. Here's what you need to do now.

1. Tyres

tire

Don't even think about riding on summer tires during the winter! If you are already in financial trouble and cannot get winter or universal tires, then it is better not to drive a car than to endanger lives. Sparrows on the branch also know that summer tires stiffen at low temperatures (because they are made of a harder mixture compared to winter ones) so much that they can behave as if they are made of plastic, which greatly affects the braking distance, maneuvering in curves as and the departure itself. Regardless of the fact that the law now allows driving on such tires (tread depth min. 4 mm) if there is no snow, ice and ice on the road, it is up to you to think consequently. Just as you will not drive a four-year-old child without a special seat because it is not safe and the law allows it, so in winter you simply forget to drive on summer tires because you will slip, the wheels will grind and you will simply not have control over the vehicle. Also, on winter or universal tires, the minimum tread depth must be four mm.

2. Put on steel wheels

rim

If you have aluminum wheels, it would be best to take them off during the winter months and put steel ones that are not so sensitive in place of them. Industrial salt can greatly damage aluminum, which, in addition, becomes brittle at low temperatures and is much easier to damage, making steel a much better choice for winter.

3. Battery

battery

The most sensitive part of the car at low temperatures is just that the battery. That is why it is important to check your condition to avoid problems such as a chilling morning start in the cold or far from completely discharging the battery, which would prevent you from starting the vehicle. Know that in five, six years old battery thinks he is well past age so consider buying a new one. If you have a younger one battery from this then before minus be sure to check the battery status with a special device that reads capacity. Batteries are sensitive to low temperatures, depending on age and type of the battery, at a temperature of, say, -10 degrees, the battery has only about 80 percent of its capacity left. The lower the temperature, the lower the battery capacity. Also, check the condition of the starter, because if it is defective, it will not adequately recharge the battery. And of course, the battery should always be clean, so check the terminals and clean them from corrosion, which weakens their contacts (you can easily do this with kitchen wire).

4. Engine oil

engine

Ideally, before the coming winter, change the engine oil, of course, if it's time to do so, or if you are close to 10.000 miles traveled since the last replacement. This fluid is essential for proper maintenance and operation of the engine and its components. After some time in operation, motor oil it absorbs moisture which impairs its viscosity and lubrication of the engine is not at the required level which leads to wear and tear of parts and can cause serious failures. Also, old oil, in addition to losing its lubricating properties, is dirty and these impurities impair the proper functioning of the engine. Never save on engine oil, but always buy the highest quality. In addition to changing the oil, it is mandatory to replace the oil filter.

5. Brakes

Disks

Be sure to check the condition of the brakes before winter. Here we mean plates, discs, pads and, of course, brake oil. The braking force can depend on this fluid, because if it is dirty and the boiling point is lower than necessary, since this fluid absorbs moisture very easily. The moisture in the brake fluid lowers its boiling point. During longer and stronger braking, the brakes heat up more, and thus the fluid, and when it reaches the boiling point, the bubbles that are then formed also reduce the braking force. So, if you haven't checked the boiling point of this liquid in the past two years, now is the right time to do so. Note that the boiling point of the brake fluid is slightly above 2000 C.

6. Coolant

cooling liquid

The fluid used to cool the engine properly during winter must be at the height of the task. This fluid, in addition to protecting it from freezing, has a very important role in protecting against corrosion inside the engine. Which can contribute to permanent damage to the cooling system. If the refrigerant or antifreeze is insufficient in the system, or after a prolonged operation, the freezing point has increased, then this liquid at low temperatures can freeze in the refrigerator and damage the gaskets and the engine block. It is safest to check the antifreeze with a special device that measures the freezing point, and you can do it yourself with a device called a bometer.

7. Winter windshield fluid

liquid

Fill the windshield washer fluid with winter liquid, which should be resistant to low temperatures. Otherwise, if this liquid freezes in the system during cold winter days, the ice will damage the plastic container, the hoses leading to the injectors as well as the injectors themselves due to expansion. Always buy this liquid in pairs during the winter, so keep one in reserve and you will use it much more often during the coming months.

8. Lights

light

In addition to checking the headlamp height, also check the condition of the headlamps. If they are blurred and matted on the outside, wipe them with toothpaste and a towel and you will see a great effect

9. Glass

filter

If your glasses are already foggy, try coating them with some of the chemicals for this purpose. If the problem persists, replace the cabin filter which, if dirty, causes this phenomenon.

10. Wiper blades

wiper

Check the condition of the wiper blades and if they are worn out, replace them immediately with a new one as the next period in which they will be extremely important to you

IN THE LUGGAGE:

11. Traction agents

launches

If you drive out of town often, now put some of the traction boosters in the trunk. Chains, nets, snow socks…

12. Against ice

ice

Also store cosmetic aids in the trunk, such as a glass de-icing spray, which is an ideal substitute for a boring scratcher as it instantly dissolves ice.

13. Against water retention

In addition to the ice cream, get the famous water repellent that you will apply to the windshield to provide yourself with a better view during the winter.

14. Cedars

Provide yourself with some of the cedar remedies that will be well lubricated and prevented from icing the door beforehand.
