Regular maintenance of the brakes

Does your car whine unbearably every time you press brake? Irritating mild vibrations may occur that make you feel like you don't have complete control? Has the position of the brake pedal changed? Do you have to push the pedal harder, or did you feel insecure last time when you had to brake suddenly?

These are all clear signs that it is time to service the brakes.

When trying to figure out what exactly is bothering your pet so that you can replace the matching auto parts, you should take these symptoms into consideration.

If there is a strong squeak but no vibration, the brakes are running poorly (or not working at all) and you can't remember the last time the brakes were serviced, it's time to change the brake pads. The sound comes about because manufacturers have made the tiles so alert the driver that it's time to replace them. Don't wait too long to replace them. The sound will be amplified and the tiles will be consumed by the end. As a result, the brakes will overheat and react less slowly to the pedal pressure until they eventually fail completely! This can happen just when you have to stop abruptly, or while driving children.

Feeling the vibrations as you brake? It's time to replace the brake discs, or possibly repair them. Some discs are thick enough to be machined to be smooth again, but this is rarely recommended. The discs become uneven over time due to sudden braking, or because the piston gets stuck, causing constant but unequal pressure on the wheels. The best solution is to replace the brake discs. If you do, be sure to replace the tiles as well.

When we mentioned the brake pistons, they change when some problems with the discs start to occur. If you feel vibrations, if you feel the brake is constantly depressed, or the stench of arson is emerging, or something is blowing out of the wheels, it's time to react. Drive the car, then touch the wheel. If it's a little heated, that's fine. However, if the wheel is hot, you should not wait before asking yourself a mechanic.

Unlike tiles and discs, which change in pairs, the pistons do not need to be replaced in the kit. If one is defective, it is enough to replace it. You can also try delaying the piston replacement by cleaning and lubricating it.

If you have checked everything and everything is working fine but the pedal does not react as it should, the only place left is the hydraulic system. Oil is the mediator between the brake pedal and the brake pads. The system consists of a pedal cylinder, a brake oil pan and a pipe system. Look at the brake oil level in the pan. If the level is between the MIN and MAX marks, then the problem is somewhere else. If the level is below normal, there is an oil leak somewhere. You need to find traces of oil, or rust on the pipes, especially around gaskets and erasers. Also check for oil on the master brake cylinder, or under the car, as the pipes run the entire length of the car, all the way to the rear brakes.

In Serbia, several times more people die on the roads than in the west, in relation to the number of inhabitants. Very often the cause is a car malfunction. Maintain the car regularly, especially the brakes, trap and tires. Save your own and the lives of others.

Have you ever had a problem with your brakes at a critical time? Do you maintain them regularly?
