Step 4 - It is good to coat the poles of the battery with Vaseline in order to slow down and prevent the effect of corrosion. Once you have done that, put the negative terminal on the negative pole and the positive on the positive.

In addition, you should know that the battery must never run out of electrolytes because it simply cannot work without them. For that reason, it is necessary to check their level from time to time. Namely, with normal operation, the battery loses them. When checking them, the liquid in the battery must cover its plates by approximately 10 millimeters. If we notice that there is less of it, distilled water should be added. The acid should not be added because it concentrates by evaporation and does not lose it. There are batteries that are declared not to need to be checked, however it is good to check them from time to time, just in case.

Often, instead of buying a new one, the old battery is removed and charged. We need an adapter for this. Charging should not exceed 1/10 of the capacity in Ah because if it is higher, the full capacity of the battery will not be obtained. Charging is done through the rectifier and its voltage should be regulated during charging.

Battery life depends on maintenance, but also on how it is. For lead, the shelf life is limited to three to four years, and for rechargeable batteries and less, up to two years. If they are not intended for charging, they should not be forced to do so as they may explode when charging.
