Honda really has a 1.8 B18C4 engine (which is essentially a weaker version of the Honda Integre Type R engine) and it comes with two models.
In terms of engine variants you have 3 variants of 1.4 motors (D14A2 / A5 / A7), 2 variants of 1.5 motors (D15Z6 / Z8 have VTEC-E system), and a lot of 1.6 motors. The strongest engines are from the VTi model: VTi 1.6 (B16A2) and VTi 1.8 (B18C4).
Here's the main "advantage" of the VTi model: the 1.6 engine was used only in the three-door Civic VTi, and the 1.8 engine in the larger five-door Civic VTi. The 1.8 B18C4 engine in the VTi arrived with the Torsen LSD found in the Honda Accord Type R and Integra Type R.
So to simplify: the Honda Civic VTi 1.6 is a "Classic" Honda with a Type R look, and the Honda Civic VTi 1.8 is literally a Honda Integra Type R for those on a "budget" and with five doors.
