Continental is the name best known today thanks to the "Continental GT" promoted by Bentley in 2003, which became a big hit. However, that name has been associated with the class of luxury and powerful coupes in the Bentley world for decades, it first appeared on a model in June 1952, when the "R type continental" was promoted, a model created in cooperation with the Mulliner body house.

It was a model capable of developing 193 miles per hour and at the same time the last Bentley in the next three decades that did not share the platform with any of the Rolls Royce models owned by Bentley for a long time. All R-rated models were powered by the same engine, a regular six-cylinder with an aluminum cast head, which released 4,6 horsepower from 130 liters of displacement. Two years later, both the "drophed coupe" and the sedan version of the same model were promoted. In 1957, an ultra-light version of the Continental Flyer Spar model, created with the Muliner signature, was promoted.
1 Bentley S1956 Continental
The Continental name was present in Bentley's offer with the subsequent modification of the 1955 S model. The coupe model was lighter than the standard S sedan, and was powered by a regular six-cylinder but with a volume of 4.900 cubic meters, with the ability to choose automatic or manual four-speed transmission.
Continental R was manufactured from 1991 to 2002
A total of 431 specimens were produced. On the basis of the 2 S1959 model, a sporty Continental version was also introduced. This model is known for promoting the new powerful 8 liter V6,2 engine with only 388 Continents produced based on the S2. The popular “S2” was followed by Bentli with the designation “S3”, which was more or less the same car, with the biggest changes being double circular light groups.

One of the most popular Continental-branded models in recent history is the Continental R, manufactured from 1991 to 2002, which is Bentley's first model after the famous 1952 R model, which did not share any of the Rolls Royce's models. It was inherited until recently by the current Continental GT, created as a result of collaboration with Volkswagen, but this model is no longer part of automotive history.
