ASR - Anti Slip Regulation, TCS - Traction Control System

TCS (Traction Control System) or more popular ASR (Anti Slip Regulation) is an active safety system for both passenger vehicles and freight. This anti-skid system generally, though not the rule, goes with it ABS system, so today it can be found in most cars, not only in the higher categories, but in all smaller, city cars.

How does ASR work? 

When it comes to functioning, ASR works on a similar principle as it does ABS system. Namely, ASR does not allow the drive wheels to slip when the vehicle is suddenly started. Also, it has proven to be extremely good when it comes to climbing through slippery terrain, whether it is snow, rain, mud or sand. Specifically, the sensors detect that one or both of the drive wheels have slipped, the brakes on the drive wheels come into play and thus stop the vehicle from slipping further. All this happens in a split second.

Another good side of the ASR system is noticeable when entering curves faster, as it makes it easier for the vehicle to return to the desired path if a sudden slip occurs.

In order not to be surprised, you need to know that when you activate the ASR device, a yellow triangle-shaped warning light with an exclamation point will light up on the instrument panel. This is a sign that the device is active and at that moment you will hear the brake activation sound, which is quite similar to that of an ABS system. It is important to note that during the operation of the active safety system, the accelerator pedal should not be pressed further, as it can very easily cause the brakes to overheat and, consequently, reduce their efficiency.

Finally, we would like to remind you that this, as well as other electronic active vehicle protection systems in the vehicle, while providing additional security, does not relieve you of the obligation to adjust the speed to the conditions and conditions of the road, as they can prevent unwanted and risky situations, but all in the limits of the laws of physics.
