ABC - Active Body Control
ABC (Active Body Control) is Mercedes system for active three-dimensional position adjustment and prevention of sinking and tilting of the body. The basis is in the AIRMATIC oil-air suspension, which, regardless of the load, maintains a constant distance from the ground, and when driving in a curve, it prevents or reduces the tilting of the body. This improves the stability and driving characteristics of the car and increases active safety. The system is based on shock absorbers with oil and air. As air can be compressed, and oil is practically impossible to compress, during loading, air compresses and the suspension dies. This is recorded by the body position sensors and sends information to the electronic module, which opens the solenoid valve and injects as much oil into the shock absorbers as the air has compressed. This flattens the car and makes the suspension stiffer. The principle is the same for longitudinal tilting (when the rear part 'sinks' due to the load) and transverse tilting (when the car leans towards the outer part of the bend under the action of centrifugal force).

The main innovation of the ABC system is a set of sensors, which monitors the position of the vehicle in three dimensions and, depending on the speed, lateral acceleration and rotation of the steering wheel, at any time puts the body most favorable to the ground. This, of course, prevents or decreases the tilting in the curve.
