Hyundai i30 2nd gen. 2012-2017 - second-hand, experiences, problems
Hyundai i30 2.gen. only made 5 years, and in 2014, a small redesign was performed, which included styling the front grille and introducing new engines, including the 186 horsepower Turbo version.
Hyundai i30 2.gen. (GD) for the first time in the history of this model, the manufacturer has opted to introduce a 3-door variant (i30 Coupe, from 2014). The wheelbase in the i30 II hasn’t changed, but the car has grown a few inches and has become much more spacious and roomy. Looking at this car back in time, it seems rather outdated and imaginative, but second-hand users don't mind. Hyundai has long ceased to be regarded as an exotic brand and stands on an increasingly high level.

Hyundai i30 2st gen. - Engines
The Hyundai i30 (GD) engine range includes two naturally aspirated petrol units - 1.4 and 1.6. The latter is available in three versions: with (120 hp) and direct injection (135 hp), as well as with a turbocharged 186 hp (i30 Turbo). In turn 1.4 before the modernization of the Gamma family engine, after the modernization - Kappa. Both develop 100 hp each and provide almost identical performance, with a slight advantage over the newer ones. Those who like diesel have a choice of 1.4 horsepower with 90 horsepower (often used in fleets) and 1.6 CRDi with 110, 128 and 136 hp, also with a 7-speed DCT transmission. All diesel engines are equipped with a particle filter - fortunately without problems, except that the regeneration process takes place quite often, even every few hundred kilometers. The use of a floating flywheel has been completely abandoned.

Hyundai i30 2nd gen. - problems and malfunctions
It is a fairly durable car with predictable labor costs. The most serious malfunctions of the i30 are related to poor sealing of the transmission on 1.6 GDI engines - oil can enter the part with the clutch and cause the clutch to slip.
Corrosion on the tailgate and overall low color durability.
Problems when using the unit's full power, the engine failure light comes on on the instrument panel. The problem is with the 1.6 CRDi turbo diesel, and the sieve in the fuel tank, which clogs up every 30000-40000 km on average, is wrong. Cleaning is recommended at each service.
Increased steering shake when braking. Brake disc problems. In general, the durability of the original discs and tiles is not the best. The advice is to invest in better quality replacements.
Oil leakage or plunging from the piston system. The 1.6 GDI leaks from the camshaft position sensor gasket. In cars from the start of production (after approximately 100 km) individual cases of bearing rotation (usually resolved under warranty).
Problems with unscrewing the wheel nut - incorrect turning of the nut on the abyss. This is often the result of a vulcanizer error, although we admit that there is a large gap between the groove and the nut during initial screwing (this helps to tighten the nut at an angle). Fortunately, repair is not expensive.
