Kia Picanto 2004 - 2011 - Used, engines, failures

Kia Picanto

Kia Picanto

Kia Picanto is a real refreshment on the market of small city cars, but only after restyling and increasing the quality. The trunk is extremely small, but there is more seating space than we expected, and the turning circle is impressive, so it is ideal to run through city crowds. Still, only three stars for safety.

APPEARANCE - Kia Picanto

All small-town car manufacturers strive to bid the most for the least money. The Kia Picanto is absolutely in the lead. For a little money you get a decent spacious car packed with accessories. There is plenty of room both in the front and in the back, and even the tallest will comfortably fit into the back bench.

Five doors mean more convenience and easier access to the rear bench, and the only thing that spoils the whole impression is the rather small trunk.

The dashboard, it seems, is designed to last, although the quality of the material may not be the brightest. There aren't too many buttons, and they are all logically arranged, so some getting used to them isn't necessary. We should also mention that Picanto is not for those who prefer a more energetic ride. Tilting in curves is quite pronounced, and even the engines cannot boast of extra power.

Kia Picanto

The redesign of the Kia Picanto was done at the end of 2008, since the car looks a lot more modern and the cabin has been refined.

MOTORS

The smallest gasoline has 1000 cubic meters and 60 horses. It is sufficient for city driving, but problems arise when maintaining constant speed on open roads, and especially when overtaking when you have to go even two degrees lower.

The 1,1 has five more welcome horses, though again we cannot say that you will cruise the car leisurely. The bigger the engine, the better the equipment, but we recommend the higher of the two. The average consumption is just over four liters of unleaded gasoline per hundred kilometers, which is more than good if feasible because we have heard from the owners that it is very difficult to get close to this data.

FAILURES

Since being manufactured since 2004, Kia Picanto is still a relatively young half-man. What is good is that if you decide on it, given the year of production, most of them are still under factory warranty. What we can claim is that Kia has definitely raised the standard of quality of its cars, so hopefully this little one will turn out well.

    Dear Sirs,
I am commenting on your post with great delay and I want to say that the KIA PICANTO is the most appreciative thing I have ever driven. That car, if we exclude size and comfort, has no flaws.
We went to Vienna with our kiosk several times, then to Greece to the sea 3 times, not to mention driving around the bar.
Maintenance is ridiculous, and consumption depends on the weight of the foot on the accelerator pedal.
For example. All the way to Vienna at a speed of 145-150 km / h, consumption reached 8,2 liters per 100 km, but that's why on the way to Greece in 2018, the three of us and a full car, at speeds up to 100 km / h, consumption was 4,7 liters (the air conditioning was turned off).
As for the reliability of the car, I will only tell you the fact that the hour of our "beast" now has a figure of 423000 kilometers, no "opening" of the engine and without a single malfunction, so judge for yourself.
Greetings to all owners of PICANTO models from Jovan from Subotica!
