The first thing you need to be sure of is your crane and your wheel key. If you do not have the correct crane, simply removing the wheel can be very dangerous and can endanger you and your vehicle. The key should be firm and it would be best if it had a long extension with which you can make a better lever to loosen the screws.

Step 1

The most common mistake people make is to lift the car with a crane before unscrewing the screws. THIS IS A BIG MISTAKE! The wheel screws are loosened while the car is on the ground because the car is more stable. Unscrew the screws counterclockwise. Since it will probably be difficult for you to unscrew them with your hands, use your foot or simply climb on the key and use your weight.

Step 2

When you have unscrewed the screws, now install the crane. The jack must be on a flat surface and positioned well on the bottom of the car. Lift the car and remove the already unscrewed screws, then remove the wheel.

Step 3

Take the spare wheel and put it in place. Attach the center hole to the hub (the pipe that goes through the center hole in the rim), then move the wheel by hand to align all the screw holes. Insert and tighten the screws with your hand as much as you can.

Step 4

Release the crane and lower the car to the ground, then use the wrench to tighten the screws further to the wheel. This time, turn them clockwise.

If done properly and calmly, you will find that changing the wheel is not a complicated operation and that you will do it in a short time. Check and control your tires regularly to maximize their life.
