BMW the 6 Series E63 was produced from 2003 to 2010. It is available as a coupe or convertible (E64), with two doors.
From the engine, there were a couple of variants, 3,0 six-cylinder down to 5,0 V10 engines in the M6.
The design of this series has generally received a very warm welcome from the BMW community. It was designed to look like a shark, and many have admitted the similarity.
Compared to the 5 Series, the BMW 6 has more emphasis on performance as opposed to practicality.
There are four models, these are the 630Ci / 630i, 645Ci, 650i, M6 and 635d.
The difference between the 630Ci and 630i is that the 630Ci comes as a convertible and the 630i comes as a coupe.
The 630Ci develops power up to 258 hp, up to 100 km / h in 6.9 s, with an average consumption of about 9.6 l / 100 km.
The 630i is a little faster, has 272bhp, takes up to 100km / h in 6.4 s, with an average consumption of about 9.2l / 100km.
The 645Ci develops up to 329 hp, takes up to 100 km / h in 5.4 s, and has an average fuel consumption of 11.8 l / 100 km in combined driving.
The 650i develops 362 bhp, it takes 100 s to reach 5.4 km / h, with an average fuel consumption of 13 l, with city driving as high as 8!
The M6 with its 5,0 V10 engine and 500 hp is the strongest and fastest model in this BMW series.
It accelerates to "4.5" in 333 s, with a top speed of 250 km / h, which is electronically limited to XNUMX.
Interestingly, the BMW 6 Series has a "power button" that changes engine power.
On ignition, the BMW 6 Series E63 delivers 395 horsepower, while pressing the "power button" gives it power of 500 horses.
Its average fuel consumption is 14.8 l / 100 km.
On offer was a coupe or convertible.
The M6 is visually different from the 630i, 645Ci and 650i in its deeper front air vents, more shaped side sills, more aerodynamic rearview mirrors and doesn't come with fog light.
As a diesel variant of this BMW series, the 635d accelerates to 286 km / h in 100 s with its 6.3 horsepower and consumes 6.9 l / 100 km in combined driving.
The gearbox installed in this BMW 6 Series can be a six-speed manual or an automatic "Steptronic". The 630i also had the option of installing a six-speed SMG semi-automatic transmission.
Some of the more common failures and code problems BMW 6 series are:
Frequent water leaks from the roof of a convertible
Engine oil, gearbox and differential oil leaks
Common Camshaft Position Sensor Error
Frequent coolant leak on 645i model
The most common mistakes regarding electronics are:
Problems with the iDrive system
Damage to the connectors or electrical connections can cause the steering wheel to lock, malfunction, and gearbox problems if it is on the steering wheel.
Other problems include xenon lights fading in the corners, which are solved by computer reprogramming, problems with the SRS system computer, and more frequent malfunctions on the sensor that regulates the sliding roof in convertibles.
