PROBLEM - A whistling sound at approximately 1600 rpm from the engine compartment.
CAUSE - Poor version of the turbocharger.
REPAIR - Install a modified turbocharger.

Toyota Auris - ALL MODELS WITH DIESEL ENGINE 1.4, FROM 08/2008. 
PROBLEM - Engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminates. Memorized error code: P0487.
CAUSE - Engine computer software (ECM) error.
REPAIR - Test electronics and mechanics components (as needed) to eliminate other possible causes. If no errors are found: Install a modified engine computer (ECM).

Toyota Auris - ALL MODELS WITH 1ND-TV ENGINE CODE 
PROBLEM - Rattle from the clutch assembly while the engine is idling and the clutch pedal is fully released.
CAUSE - Improper clutch assembly version.
REPAIR - Install the modified clutch assembly. Replace the clutch slave cylinder.

Toyota Auris - ALL MODELS WITH ENGINE CODE 1ND-TV, FROM 12/2009. 
PROBLEM - Bad cold start. Faulty idle cold start.
CAUSE - Defective fuel injectors. Engine Computer Software (ECM) Error.
REPAIR - Test components, electronics and mechanics (as needed) to eliminate other possible causes. If no error is found: Reprogram the engine computer (ECM) with the upgraded software. Check the number on the fuel injectors. If the number is 23670 - 33050, replace the fuel injectors. A software upgrade is required for the repair to succeed - contact the manufacturer.

Toyota Auris - ALL MODELS, SINCE 2008 
PROBLEM - Knocking from the steering wheel when turning the steering wheel.
CAUSE - Dry contact surfaces on the lower joint of the steering column with a grooved joint.
REPAIR - To confirm the cause: mark the alignment on the lower steering column joint with the steering rack. Remove the lower steering column joint from the steering rack. Slide the lower steering column joint in and out 10 times. Make sure the reference marks are aligned. Install the lower steering column hinge. Test drive. If noise is no longer heard: Fit the modified lower link of the steering column.

Toyota Auris - ALL MODELS WITH DIESEL ENGINE 2.0 / 2.2, FROM 12/07. 
PROBLEM - Engine overheating. Refrigerant loss.
CAUSE - Defective cylinder head gasket.
REPAIR - Check that the cylinder head surface is distorted Maximum tolerance: 0,05 mm. Install a modified cylinder head gasket.

Toyota Auris - ALL MODELS SA SOIL PARTICLE FILTER (DPF)  
PROBLEM - Engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminates. The engine runs in forced mode.
CAUSE - Software error engine computer (ECM). Blocked vacuum tube of pressure transmitter  Particulate Filter (DPF). Particulate Filter (DPF) blocked.
REPAIR - Check that all DPF pressure sensor vacuum hoses are installed correctly and leaking. Check the operation and condition of the DPF. Reprogram engine computer (ECM) with upgraded software.

Toyota Auris - ALL MODELS, FROM 03/2007. 
PROBLEM - Poor idling. Startup error.
CAUSE - Engine computer software (ECM) error.
REPAIR - Install upgraded engine computer software (ECM).

Toyota Auris - ALL MODELS, FROM 03/2007. 
PROBLEM - Engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminates. Engine computer (ECM) in forced mode.
CAUSE - Engine computer software (ECM) error.
REPAIR - Install upgraded engine computer software (ECM).

PROBLEM - Engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminates. The engine runs in forced mode.
CAUSE - Engine computer software (ECM) error.
REPAIR - Test components, electronics and mechanics (as needed) to eliminate other possible causes. If no error is found: Reprogram the engine computer (ECM) with the upgraded software.

Toyota Auris - ALL MODELS WITH ENGINE CODE 1CD-FTV 
PROBLEM - Bad cold start.
CAUSE - Defective heaters.
REPAIR - Check heaters, replace if necessary. Reprogram the ECM with the modified software.

Toyota Auris - ALL MODELS 
PROBLEM - Occasional loss of power during acceleration. Engine jerk.
CAUSE - The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve is not working properly.
REPAIR - Check air filter, replace if necessary. Check the air mass flow sensor (MAF), replace if necessary. Clean the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve and associated parts. Reprogram the ECM with the modified software.

Toyota Auris - ALL MODELS WITH DIESEL ENGINE 2.0 / 2.2 
PROBLEM - Engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminates. The smell of diesel in the cabin.
CAUSE - Leak in high fuel pressure pump.
REPAIR - Check the date of manufacture at the high pressure fuel pump. If the production date is before 02/2010 (01M 02700), replace the high fuel pressure pump with a modified version.
