Engine raised temperature - what to do? What are the reasons?

The engine raised the temperature

The engine raised the temperature

Heat is not a friend of the engine. Each engine runs at optimum, usually very high temperature, but when the engine exceeds operating temperature, then problems begin.

Each car on the control panel has a temperature control, a division hand or a light that illuminates when the engine exceeds operating temperature. If the engine temperature indicator exceeds the optimum value - the optimum is usually around 90 degrees Celsius - and approaches a critical value, the car should be stopped immediately. Also, if the red light comes on, which signals the coolant temperature. Don't be late, because any wait with the engine in this condition can lead to expensive repairs.

Therefore - stop the car as soon as possible and turn off the engine. Because of the turbine, especially if you were driving at higher speeds just before the high engine temperature was noticed, you should wait a while until the turbine slows down.

And what about when you can't stop the car? Then turning on the maximum heating and turning on the fan in the cabin at the highest blowing speed will be minimal help, which will raise the temperature inside, but sweat better than the engine overheated. This trick will take some heat from the engine, it may be enough to save the engine. But this is not a cure for the problem, but temporary help until finding a suitable place to stop the car. When you stop the car, opening the bonnet further cools the engine.

Next step, check the coolant level. NOTE: Wait for the engine to cool before looking into the tank. Directly unscrewing the coolant tank cover can cause severe burns to the body. It is also dangerous - this time for the engine - to pour cold liquid immediately. This can damage the engine components. If the liquid level is low, add diluted antifreeze or if you do not have it, distilled water can be added. Plain water causes limescale to build up in the refrigerator, and limescale can later cause overheating problems. After topping up the coolant, monitor whether the engine is running properly, overheating and maintaining the temperature.

If after adding coolant the problem is not solved and the engine overheats again then this is a serious problem and requires going to a repair shop.

What are the most common problems? Leaks in the cooling system. This is relatively easy to find, looking under the hood. Also the problem may be the fan malfunctioning or the malfunctioning thermal switch, also check the temperature of switching on the thermal switch. Therefore, first examine whether the fan runs, cools, when the temperature is exceeded. Also check the thermal switch, make sure the connector has not dropped from the thermal switch. Also check the fuses for the blower fuse to blow. If the fan does not work, the necessary solution to drive the car to service is to replace, bypass, the connector on the thermostat that controls the fan.

A common problem is the thermostat, which needs to be replaced. Diagnosing a faulty thermostat, which does not open the thermostat, is done while the engine is hot, so that one hand catches the drain hose from the cooler to the engine and the other hand feeds the hose from the engine to the cooler, and if one hose is cold and the other is warm, the thermostat does not open.

Part of the heat during engine operation receives engine oil and transfers that heat through the crankcase (or oil cooler) to the environment. The engine should be kept clean.

The effects of running a high temperature engine can be expensive. Damage to the cylinder head and cylinder head gasket may be required, a new cylinder head gasket and straightening of the cylinder head are required. Oil and water may also mix, an emulsion will form in the oil, do not mix with the emulsion on the bonnet, there may be an emulsion due to condensation. If the engine operating temperature is exceeded, the cylinder head may crack, the engine block may bend, or it may crack clips and link.

Improving the operation of the cooling system can be done by removing impurities from the fins refrigerator . Flush the radiator by the engine to the outside, but be careful not to bend the fins on the radiator.

The biggest mistake is that coolant quality should only be tested before the winter season. During the winter, we want to avoid freezing, but in the summer the coolant provides good cooling. When replacing antifreeze with a new one. It is recommended to rinse the entire cooling system with an appropriate means.

Rover 75-FG - NG 1. And while he was an old prisoner, that didn't happen. they just lose water, I didn't notice where it goes .. as for the hose that goes from the radiator to the engine, it's so hard… he asks you who's there nine

Auto Ford Focus 2005 raised the temperature in the bottle this morning, the liquid level decreased and the cabin heating does not blow cold air. What to do.

It's a passat cc 2.0 tdi. It raises the temperature and goes to 90 in a very short time. Fans get paid at that temperature. Do you know what the reason is to raise the temperature that way? Thank you

Auto raises the temperature quickly to 90. Then the fans come on. When I switch off the car fans continue to work for a while. It's a passat cc 20 tdi
