The steering wheel lath is an important part of the vehicle. It has knuckles, is connected to the steering wheel and power steering pump and through it our movements on the steering wheel get their true dimension, that is, by driving the steering wheel, the steering wheel is triggered, which then directs the wheels on the vehicle.

As we can conclude, this is a part of a car that is really used a lot and as such is prone to wear and malfunction after a while. And in such moments we always ask ourselves - repair a broken part or buy a new one?
Of course, since we live in times of crisis, the first thought is always - repair. but, when we are not sufficiently familiar with the whole process and do not know the master who is to do the repair, there is always the fear that the work will not be done well, and that, as the saying goes, we will pay for the cat in the sack. However, it should be remembered that repairing the steering wheel can save up to 50 percent of the money we would normally give for the part under the hammer. Also, some of the car repair shops today offer a warranty on the repaired part, so this is a big plus, so if you have just such a workshop in your part of the world, be sure to give it an edge.
Faults occur on the steering wheel slats, such as various knocks on the slats due to the idling that occurs between the joints and other connecting parts, and also due to leaks from that system. Attached to the steering rack is a power steering pump that allows us to easily, we could say, ladies turn the steering wheel, and not that we need to be powerful as drivers of older vehicles should be since turning the steering wheel without a power steering pump is really hard work.
Steering rack repair is usually done by changing the oil seals, sealing system and bushings. The most common failures are worn end ends, ball joints, deformation of the link and rack, play between the rack and gear, and oil leakage.

The whole concept of the steering wheel is easy to understand. The steering wheel is connected to a small gear via the bar. Its task is to move the other lath, which is mounted horizontally with respect to this one, which is connected to the steering wheel and has gears that correspond to the teeth from the end of the vertical lath. So, we actually have two slats - a vertical one that is connected to the steering wheel and a horizontal one that connects the wheels. Connecting them makes it possible to steer the wheels through the steering wheel - left, right and right.

The described system has been used in the car industry for all eternity and is constantly being improved in order to be as efficient as possible. There are different transmission systems, but they are reserved for larger vehicles, such as trucks and the like. The revolution in the use of the steering rack was certainly the servo pump that made it easy to turn and steer. Even before, the gears were made in such a way as to enable the driver to turn the steering wheel as easily as possible, however, that often meant - difficult turning.
The servo pump is connected to the timing belt of the motor, which means that the motor itself runs a pump that contains oil. In fact, the circulation of this oil in the pump creates pressure that makes it easier to rotate the lath, and therefore the steering wheel.
Steering rack, wheels, power steering, all these are parts of the vehicle's steering system and as such it is always necessary to keep an eye on it and immediately repair any defect, regardless of the replacement of the part or its repair, because it is one of the most important safety factors. on every car. After repairing or replacing the steering wheel with a new bar, it is necessary to make an optical adjustment of the geometry, better known as the inclination and angle.
So, it is only the depth of your wallet that determines whether you are repairing the steering wheel or buying a new one. But one thing is for sure - if you spot problems on it, do it as soon as possible. For your safety and the safety of other road users!
