Rear wheel rattle - causes, repair

The annoying rattling on the rear suspension is often a pretty clear and relatively straightforward reason to repair.

The torsion beam is currently the most popular rear suspension system. It is long lasting and does not require interventions for a long time. Because of this, many drivers do not realize that, like other components, the traverse carrier also wears out.

Metal-rubber bushings, torsion brackets, located where the rear axle is attached to the car body. They create a characteristic dull rattle when driving over bumps. These sounds often confuse drivers with the sound of objects moving (throbbing) in the trunk (eg fire extinguisher or spare wheel).

It happens that mechanics misinterpret the symptoms and may replace, for example, shock absorbers or suspension springs, which creates unnecessary costs.

In fact, the repair is not very complicated. The torsion beams are packed in the tube and their removal requires the use of a large one sile. In most cases, however, you can do this using special pullers without completely removing the beam from the car.
