What are the most common problems and failures of the Peugeot 407 and how to solve them?

Peugeot 407 - ALL MODELS  
PROBLEM - Noise from front wheel bearings.
CAUSE - Poor construction of front wheel bearings. Applies only to wheel bearings manufactured by NSK.
REPAIR - Replace the NSK front wheel bearing with SNR type.

Peugeot 407 - ALL MODELS 
PROBLEM - Punching from the front suspension when driving in curves or parking.
CAUSE - Loose upper hinge (s) on front hub bracket (s).
REPAIR - Tighten the front hub bracket upper hinge to 200 Nm. Use a special tool.

Peugeot 407 - ALL MODELS 
PROBLEM - Creaking from the front suspension on uneven surfaces.
CAUSE - Excessive friction between the upper front suspension joints.
REPAIR - Remove the front suspension struts. Remove the friction washer and lubricate the bearings.

Peugeot 407 - ALL MODELS 
PROBLEM - The front fog lights cannot be turned on or off. The rear fog lights cannot be switched on or off.
CAUSE - Improper version of the combination switch.
REPAIR - Set a modified combination switch.

PROBLEM - The wipers turn on for no reason when the vehicle is unlocked or the door is opened.
CAUSE - Defective windshield wiper motor.
REPAIR - Install the modified windshield wiper motor.

PROBLEM - Startup error. The engine does not start. The fuse has blown. Fuse box / relay plate in engine compartment.
CAUSE - Insufficient allowable fuse load.
REPAIR - Inspect the starter electrical wiring for damage and repair if necessary. Replace fuse F8 (15A) in the fuse box / relay board in engine compartment 1 with fuse 25A. Check the operation of the engine starter.

Peugeot 407 - ALL MODELS 
PROBLEM - One or both headlights do not work.
CAUSE - Weak mass connection to light (s).
REPAIR - Test electronics and mechanics components (as needed) to eliminate other possible causes. If no fault is found: repair the electrical installation with the headlights using the repair kit.

Peugeot 407 - ALL MODELS 
PROBLEM - The airbag control indicator illuminates. Error codes stored in the SRS control module error memory.
CAUSE - Open coil airbag coil circuit.
REPAIR - Replace the multifunction switch.

Peugeot 407 - ALL MODELS WITH TEMPOMATOM 
PROBLEM - Cruise control does not work and is occasionally turned off.
CAUSE - Brake pedal position (BPP) switch defective.
REPAIR - Check that the distance between the adapter and the surrounding components is satisfactory. Install the modified brake pedal position (BPP) switch. Install the adapter assembly to the brake pedal position switch (BPP) and the existing assembly. Secure the adapter assembly with the hook.

Peugeot 407 - MODELS WITH CODE DAM 11213 
PROBLEM - The ESP control indicator illuminates
CAUSE - Water enters the ABS wheel speed sensor (s).
REPAIR - Perform a diagnostic check to confirm the error. Replace the faulty ABS wheel speed sensor (s).

Peugeot 407 - MODELS WITH CODE DAM 11347CJ 
PROBLEM - The brake pad wear indicator light illuminates intermittently.
CAUSE - Short circuit at the brake liner wear sensor connection.
REPAIR - Remove 50 mm of insulation from the electrical installation. Cut the ground wires at the connector and connect using thermal connectors.

Peugeot 407 1.6 HDI 
PROBLEM - Turbocharger (TC) oil leak. Loss of strength. Engine / turbocharger (TC) whistling sound.
CAUSE - Inspect the TC intake pipe for cracks.
REPAIR - Replace the TC suction pipe.

Peugeot 407 DIESEL MODELS WITH SOIL FILTER  
PROBLEM - The engine failure indicator (MIL) light is on. Loss of strength. Whistling from the turbocharger (TC). Too much exhaust fumes.
CAUSE - Internal turbocharger (TC) fault.
REPAIR - Inspect the engine for internal damage and repair as needed. Install a new turbocharger (TC).

Peugeot 407 ALL MODELS WITH AM6 GEARBOX. 
PROBLEM - The selector lever cannot be moved from the 'P' position when using diagnostic equipment.
CAUSE - Software error in Transmission Control Module (TCM).
REPAIR - The diagnostic procedure must not be started before the following: Turn the ignition ON. Turn the ignition OFF for 50 seconds. Turn the ignition ON. Without switching off the ignition, run the diagnostic procedure. Clear the error codes.

Peugeot 407 - ALL MODELS 
PROBLEM - The fuel filler flap does not open.
CAUSE - Improper version of the fuel filler cap and spring to open the cap.
REPAIR - Replace the fuel filler cap housing.

Peugeot 407 - ALL MODELS 
PROBLEM - Poor operation of the heating fan / air conditioning motor on vehicles that have traveled less than 10000 km since the cabin filter was replaced. Reduced airflow inside the vehicle.
CAUSE - Cabin filter blocked due to improper filter version.
REPAIR - Install a modified cab filter.

Peugeot 407 - ALL MODELS 
PROBLEM - Vibration on the power steering column in curves or when parking.
CAUSE - The air in the power steering fluid creates foam. Insufficient fluid in the power steering fluid reservoir, although it is on the oil dipstick on the MAX mark.
REPAIR - Top up the power steering fluid 25 mm above the MAX mark.

Peugeot 407 - DIESEL MODELS 
PROBLEM - The engine coolant temperature control indicator illuminates, but the engine temperature gauge reads normal. Switching on the air conditioner affects the operation of the engine coolant temperature control lamp.
CAUSE - Faulty engine coolant fan motor relays (3).
REPAIR - Install all three new relays.

Peugeot 407 - DIESEL MODELS WITH CODE - DAM  
PROBLEM - Poor start. The engine failure indicator (MIL) illuminates.
CAUSE - The high pressure fuel pump is losing pressure.
REPAIR - Replace the high pressure fuel pump.

Peugeot 407 - ALL MODELS 2.0 HDI 
PROBLEM - Engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminates. Error codes recorded in the engine computer error memory (ECM): turbocharger pressure error.
CAUSE - Turbocharger (TC) ring stuck.
REPAIR - Install a new turbocharger (TC).

Peugeot 407 2.0 HDI 
PROBLEM - Engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminates.
CAUSE - Faulty intake air temperature (IAT) sensor.
REPAIR - Install a new IAT sensor.

Peugeot 407 - MODELS WITH CODE DW 
PROBLEM - Malfunction at idle during cold start.
CAUSE - Engine computer software (ECM) error.
REPAIR - Test electronics and mechanics components (as needed) to eliminate other possible causes. If no error is found: Reprogram the engine computer (ECM) with the upgraded software.

Peugeot 407 - MODELS WITH CODE DW 
PROBLEM - Creaking from the front suspension on uneven surfaces.
CAUSE - Excessive friction between the upper front suspension joints.
REPAIR - Remove the front suspension struts. Remove the friction washer and lubricate the bearings.

Peugeot 407 - MODELS WITH CODE EW 
PROBLEM - Noise from the front of the vehicle at a constant speed. Gradual wear on the edge of the front tires.
CAUSE - Incorrect front suspension springs installed.
REPAIR - If the front suspension spring identification mark is incorrect, install new front suspension springs. Check and adjust the geometry of the front wheels. Replace tires if necessary.

Peugeot 407 - MODELS WITH CODE DW 
PROBLEM - Noise from the rear of the vehicle at a constant speed. Gradual wear on the edge of the rear tire.
CAUSE - Rear suspension curved springs installed.
REPAIR - Check the color ID on the rear suspension springs: Blue ID: For EW12J4 (3FY / 3FZ) engine. Purple identification code: For DT17TED4 (UHZ) engines. White identification mark: For ES9A (XFV) engine. If the rear suspension spring identification mark is incorrect, install new rear suspension springs. Check and adjust the alignment of the rear wheels. Replace tires if necessary.

Peugeot 407 - MODELS WITH CODE DT17TED4 (UHZ) 
PROBLEM - The engine fault indicator light is on. The engine loses power and works poorly.
CAUSE - Damaged electrical wiring of the engine near the air filter assembly.
REPAIR - Repair or replace the engine electrical wiring assembly as needed.

Peugeot 407 - MODELS WITH CODE ES9A (XFV) 
PROBLEM - Engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminates. The engine jerks and loses power.
CAUSE - Coil error.
REPAIR - Check the coils for correctness and replace if necessary.

    Respected. Please if anyone can help me or give advice for peugeot 407sw.
    I almost started to leak water at the inner molding of the driver's seat and the sky panorama, on that composition. I took off the sky inside and nothing damaged anywhere, I took off the upper sons from the roof and also nothing. In the end, I cleaned the front drains from the panorama to the exit under the protection of the front wheels and everything is passable and nicely leaking. I thought I had solved the problem with that, but… to my great regret the water is leaking inside again…
    Can any of you help me or give me a recommendation who knows how to do it ?!

    I have a problem with the trunk door, in the beginning when I put the key in the btava the window on the trunk door unlocks later I unlock the car enough and the window unlocks and finally after a few days my trunk is locked and I can't open it. Some insecure masters told me it was up to installation but they don’t have that installation. At the diagnostics, even the trunk opens correctly on the laptop, but not manually or with a key. Help the detached.

      every car has flaws and every car breaks down and is maintained.
