Do you have a problem with blurred glass on your car? Here's how to combat humidity in the climate
The air conditioner effectively eliminates moisture and thus drains cabin air, causing condensation on the windows to disappear much faster

During winter, drivers often have problems with blurred glass. Not only does this make driving difficult, but they also significantly increase the risk of an accident, experts say. Therefore, before heading out in the morning, you should ensure good visibility and completely clear all windows not only from ice and snow, but also to dry them from the inside.

The fogging of the windows is due to moisture in the air inside the vehicle, which collects and condenses on cold glass surfaces. The best way to defog the windows is to increase the heating to the maximum level and to direct all the air from the ventilation system to the windows. Close all non-glass ventilation openings. In this way, fogged and damp glass will dry first. Keep in mind that after a cold night, it takes a few minutes for the heating to start working.

An even better way to clear the windows is to use the air conditioner, as the climate eliminates moisture from the air and the ventilation system only circulates humid air. Not only does the air conditioner serve to cool during hot summer days, it is also great for removing moisture from the air. This feature makes the windows defrost much faster and prevents blurring while driving. Combined with heating and ventilation, the air conditioning effectively drains the cabin air, and condensation on the windows disappears much faster. In addition, the use of air conditioners during colder days prevents the buildup of humidity in the interior of the car that would later accumulate on the windows. You do not need to set the system to recirculate indoor air, as this will prevent humid air from escaping, it will continue to circulate in the cabin.

If necessary, turn on the rear window heaters, and if your car is equipped with them, also heat the rearview mirror and windshield. When the windows are defrosted, it is best to turn off the electric heaters, as this will consume battery power and therefore fuel.

In case the glass does not dry fast enough, you will have to use a good old method - a cloth. Pay attention to what kind of fabric you use to clean the glass, because streaks may remain on it and instead of improving visibility, you can even weaken it. Use special cloths for glass, so-called deerskin or microfiber cloth. Glass cleaners have proven to be a good preventative against moisture collection, as moisture collects faster on dirty glass than on clean glass.

Finally, all of this will be in vain if you do not have the correct wiper blades and the proper fluid for them.

Shake off snow and mud from shoes before entering the car

The cabin's filter also contributes significantly to reducing the humidity inside the vehicle. If this filter is dirty and clogged, the effect of air ventilation and the operation of the air conditioner are significantly impaired. In this case, it will be difficult to get rid of the moisture from the car. These filters should be replaced once a year or more frequently as needed.

You will reduce the amount of moisture inside your vehicle during the winter by reducing its intake from the environment as much as possible. For example, shake off snow and mud from shoes when entering a car. Rubber mats will also help reduce moisture, as the water that collects here evaporates faster. A useful trick is to place a newspaper under the mats. Newsprint quickly absorbs moisture, reducing its presence in the air.
