1.9 TDI engine

Audi 
The TDI engine began its career in the model Audi. 5-cylinder 2.5 TDI with 120 hp. which was installed in Audi in 1991 100 years later, it debuted in the Audi 80 smaller in the Audi A4, a 1.9 TDI engine with 90 hp and marked with 1Z. The dynamics and economy that characterized the first TDI quickly changed the view of diesel engines, which until then had been characterized by a mild temperament. In the following years, the TDI engine was developed, but a significant step forward was made after the appearance of the pump-nozzle injection system, which enabled them to gain more power and lower fuel consumption.

Seat 
Seat passed into the hands of Volkswagen in the 80s. Spanish cars quickly began to use German components, including engines. The first 20 TDI was fitted to the Seat Toledo in 1.9. Over time, this engine has been on almost all of the company’s models.

Škoda  
The Czech brand clearly blossoms after buying the id side of Vw. Despite modernly designed cars Škoda still characterized by reasonable operating costs and efficient engines, the 1.9 TDI fits the picture perfectly. Not surprisingly, its presence in all models of the company.

Volkswagen  
Volkswagen cars are powered by almost all versions of the 1,9 TDI engine. It can be found in the Golf III model, from 1993 to 1996. Passats, which are still driven, often with over 500000 km, are the best proof of the longevity of the engine. In the used car market, 1.9 TDI cars are always sold easier and keep prices high. Not surprisingly, the Golf IV's offer is dominated by diesel-powered models.

When the first 2003 TDI engine appeared in 2.0, it began to slowly pull off the 1.9 TDI engine. Unfortunately, the new diesel proved to be more unreliable. So, if there is a choice between a 1.9 TDI and a 2.0 TDI engine, choose an older engine, although it provides slightly worse performance, and certainly a better choice of a 130-horsepower 1.9 TDI than a 150-horsepower 2.5 TDI diesel (creates high costs).
