Mercedes R Class

In 2006, Mercedes Benz introduced its version of the so-called model for the carriage of people better known as the Mercedes R Class. Instead of the standard 7 seats offered by most competitors in the class, Mercedes opted for very spacious and separate and independent 6 seats. The Mercedes R Class is also the first model in the class with a sporty feel and standard 4-wheel drive known as the 4Matic.

The engine range consists of two diesel and four petrol engines. The entry-level model comes with a diesel R 300 CDI engine with 190 hp while the second diesel engine on offer is the R 350 CDI with 265 hp. Gasoline engines include the R300 with 231 hp, the R350 with 272 hp and the R500 with 306 hp. The entry-level engine is very powerful and perfect for longer highway journeys, but driving around town can be a bit demanding due to the sheer size of the car. Among the accelerations and overtaking are very fast and easy and consumption is about 8 liters per 100 km. The 350 hp R6 V272 petrol engine is extremely powerful and offers acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in just 8.3 seconds and incredibly quiet and stable driving. The average consumption is about 11 - 12 liters per 100 km. The most powerful R500 V6 engine with 306 hp behaves like a V8 engine thanks to its power and sound.

The Mercedes R-Class is not very easy to drive in city driving due to its size, especially the L version, which is still a bit extended. The steering is light, but there are also problems with parking due to the size of the car. Despite this, all models are equipped with parking sensors so this greatly facilitates parking. Standard all-wheel drive provides excellent road holding and is very useful in conditions where the roads are slippery and wet.

In standard equipment Mercedes The R-Class includes a 7-speed automatic transmission, 4Matic 4-wheel drive, anti-skid control, brake assist, ESP, dual front, side airbags and curtain airbags, ISOFIX child seat preparation, cruise control, air conditioning, cd radio, automatic headlights and automatic wipers, electric front seats and alloy wheels. It has not been tested in the Euro NCAP test, but judging by other Mercedes models, it is unlikely to get a rating less than 5.
