Honda CR-V

What are the most common Honda CR-V problems and failures and how to solve them?

Honda CR-V - ALL MODELS
PROBLEM - Squeak / squeak when the clutch pedal is depressed or released.
CAUSE - The clutch master cylinder and clutch pedal are not aligned.
REPAIR - Loosen the clutch master cylinder safety screws. Depress the clutch pedal fully and hold. Tighten the clutch master cylinder safety screws to 22 Nm. Release the clutch pedal.

Honda CR-V - ALL MODELS
PROBLEM - Squeaking sound from the windshield wiper.
CAUSE - The side panel rubs against the bottom plate of the windshield.
REPAIR - Remove the engine compartment adjustment panel to access the right hood hinge. Use a suitable tool to increase the clearance between the lower windscreen panel and the side panel.

Honda CR-V - ALL MODELS, 2005 - 2008
PROBLEM - Front brake vibration.
CAUSE - Strong curvature of the front discs.
REPAIR - Check the front disc curvature is less than 0,04 mm and the thickness deviation is less than 0,015 mm and replace if necessary.

Honda CR-V - ALL MODELS, SINCE 2006
PROBLEM - Improper sound from the clutch master cylinder when the clutch pedal is depressed or released.
CAUSE - Insufficient lubrication of the clutch master cylinder in production.
REPAIR - Install the modified clutch master cylinder.

Honda CR-V - ALL MODELS, 2007 - 2008
PROBLEM - Whistling from the air conditioner (AC) during operation.
CAUSE - Echo from the expansion valve / pipe assembly.
REPAIR - Install the modified expansion valve / pipe assembly.

Honda CR-V - ALL MODELS, 2007 - 2008
PROBLEM - Occasional power loss and engine shutdown. Acceleration delay.
CAUSE - Error sopen computer engine (ECM). Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Blocked (EGR) due to soot deposits.
REPAIR - Check components, electronics and mechanics to eliminate other possible causes. If no error is found: reprogram engine computer (ECM) upgraded software.

Honda CR-V - PETROL MODELS
PROBLEM - Engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminates. The engine hardly or not at all starts and bangs.
CAUSE - Fault in camshaft production leads to accelerated wear.
REPAIR - Check the camshaft cam tips for wear and replace if necessary.

Honda CR-V - PETROL MODELS
PROBLEM - Creaking / whining from the rear differential with four-wheel drive activated. Possible vibrations from the rear differential when turning.
CAUSE - Rear differential oil dirty. Traction of the internal parts of the rear differential due to oil contamination.
REPAIR - Drain the rear differential oil. Check that the oil is not dirty. Replace the rear differential oil.

Honda CR-V - PETROL MODELS
PROBLEM - Engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminates. The engine is running poorly.
CAUSE - Incorrect engine oil level. Oil pressure on the valve phase adjustment system (VVT) is too low.
REPAIR - Top up the engine oil to the correct level.

Honda CR-V - PETROL MODELS
PROBLEM - The engine does not start.
CAUSE - Poor connection between fuel pump (FP) and connection.
REPAIR - Replace the fuel pump (FP). Check the pins on the circuit connector. Replace / repair components as needed.

Honda CR-V - PETROL MODELS 2005 - 2006
PROBLEM - Engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminates.
CAUSE - Defective heated oxygen sensor (HO2S).
REPAIR - Replace the oxygen sensor (HO2S). Reprogram the engine computer (ECM) with the upgraded software.

Honda CR-V - PETROL MODELS 2005 - 2006
PROBLEM - Engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminates. The engine is idling at idle and shuts down.
CAUSE - Camshaft Position Actuator (CMP) dirty.
REPAIR - Check components, electronics and mechanics to eliminate other possible causes. If no error is found: reprogram the engine computer (ECM) with the upgraded software.

Honda CR-V - PETROL MODELS 2005 - 2006
PROBLEM - Engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminates.
CAUSE - The oil phase of the valve phase adjustment mechanism is stuck or blocked.
REPAIR - Install a new variable valve oil pressure valve.

Honda CR-V - PETROL MODELS WITH CODE K20A4
PROBLEM - Engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminates. Poor engine reaction to gas.
CAUSE - Faulty valve position sensor (TP).
REPAIR - Install the modified valve body.

Honda CR-V - DIESEL MODELS WITH SOOT FILTER (DPF)
PROBLEM - The particulate filter (DPF) control light is on. Engine oil level too high.
CAUSE - The Particulate Filter (DPF) regeneration process did not complete due to an engine computer software (ECM) error.
REPAIR - Check components, electronics and mechanics to eliminate other possible causes. If no error is found: reprogram the engine computer (ECM) with the upgraded software. Replace engine oil and filter.
