Honda Civic 9th gen. was featured at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. It was a car aimed at the North American market. The world version (bypassing North America) was first unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2011.

Honda Civic 9th gen. has four different body versions. Certainly the most popular is the hatchback version, which is offered with three and five doors. This car goes not only to European markets, but also to South America, Africa and Asia. The same goes for the limousine and the station wagon. The coupe is only available in North America. It is worth noting that after years, Honda is slowly trying to unify the look of the Civic, regardless of the market in which it will be sold. At first, the version of the sedan looks identical almost all over the world - minor differences apply to North America (the Japanese had to adjust the car to local standards).

Honda no longer looks as extravagant as an older car - or maybe it's a matter of fact that we're used to all these dashboard shapes provided by Japanese designers. The seats in the new car are even more comfortable than in the previous one, and the quality of the material is at least good.

The Civic IX has increased slightly compared to the older vehicle and passengers have more space both front and rear. The boot has been increased to almost 480 liters and is also worthy of praise (it was previously 415 liters).

Honda Civic 9th gen. - Engines

Honda Civic 9th gen. are offered as a hatchback and 5-door sedan. Both cars (2012 model year) were powered by a 1,8-liter 104hp petrol engine. It can be equipped with both manual and automatic transmission. The Hatchback version is additionally offered with a smaller engine of 73 hp, 1,4 liters capacity. This engine was not put in the richest version.

In addition, from the 2013 model year, the 5-door vehicle can be fitted with a 1,6-liter turbo diesel with a maximum power of 120 hp. The manufacturer also improved the parameters of the gasoline engines. Now the 1,4-liter unit develops 100 hp and the larger design has 142 hp. Depending on the transmission, the most powerful Civic can reach speeds of up to 215 km / h.

In some markets Honda since 2012 it also proposes a second diesel engine. The 2,2-liter volume is equipped with a turbocharger. This is one of the most powerful engines available in Europe - it has 150 hp. In addition to the Old Continent, there is also a 2-liter engine with 150 hp and a 2,4-liter engine with 201 hp (in the coupe version on the American market). Both burn gasoline.

Honda Civic 9th gen. - problems and malfunctions

Today, Honda, together with Lekus, can be considered one of the most reliable brands on the market. Civic of course benefits from the quality of this brand. This ninth generation has been spared in every case (except for exceptions) by the great concerns and even the small ones. This makes it a great choice in all versions.

Common problems with floating flywheel and clutch in vehicles with 2.2 i-CTDi and 1.6 i-DTEC diesel engines and manual transmission. The problem is manifested by clutch slipping, pounding and engine shaking.

Diesel vehicles, which are mostly driven around the city, have problems with clogged DPF filters.

Very sensitive color on the hood and the bottom of the door, which often peels off.

Frequent Start & Stop system failures. The problem usually arises when the car is not driven for several days or longer. The problem is most likely due to a partial discharge of the battery.

Some problems with auto-switching off the multimedia unit do not allow Bluetooth connectivity, etc. Most often the problem is solved by reprogramming.

Very rare cases of low brake caliper blockage at low mileage (less than 50 km).

You have fallen a few places in terms of power, the 1.8 engine is about 140 hp, not 103hp, ie. probably should have written KW. It is the same for 1.4.
