Floating flywheel faults, the most common floating flywheel faults

As the mileage of a car increases, the list of failures that can cause it increases. One of the inevitable problems is the failure of the flywheel, whose role is to mitigate the vibrations transmitted from the engine to the transmission.

What you should always check before replacing the floating flywheel are the engine mounts. When the engine mounts are worn out, the engine shakes. If the engine mounts are correct and the engine shakes a lot when starting, or shutting down, as the crankshaft tends to keep spinning, then the float is a replacement flywheel.

The floating flywheel changes only when it shows certain symptoms, and the usual term for such symptoms is after the car exceeds 130 to 150 thousand kilometers.

When replacing a floating flywheel, it is essential to check the supporting parts, as new flywheels can be damaged very quickly.

However, even after the replacement of the floating flywheel, sometimes there are problems and complaints, because the new flywheel does not last as long as it should, the way of exploitation greatly affects its durability.

It is not necessary to drive at too low a speed, but to stick to the zone of 1500 rpm upwards, and drivers must not allow the engine to shut down when starting out of the place, as then severe shocks occur.

Also, when slowing down, you do not have to "skip" gears, such as jogging from fifth to third gear or from fourth to second, because then huge torque is transmitted to the flywheel.
Normal motor braking from 4th to 3rd gear is not terrible, and even sporting does not hurt as much when one knows how to drive.
A floating flywheel decreases its lifespan if the driving mode is sharp - sudden movement, quick release of the clutch pedal, sharp changes in speed.

The problem in our climate is poor fuel quality, because then the engine does not run smoothly, vibrations occur, and this is transmitted to the flywheel, which is damaged earlier than usual.

A worn-out floating flywheel is heard when you start and when you turn off the engine. If you hear an unpleasant sound (metal hitting metal) and feel vibrations, then there is a good chance that it is necessary to replace the floating flywheel. Vibrations are also felt when the engine is idling.

Code TDI engine faulty nozzles if they work incorrectly, thus causing vibrations during engine operation and this will drastically affect the shorter duration of the floating flywheel.

Fixed is not recommended instead of floating flywheel

Quite a few drivers who want to save money when replacing a flywheel require a repairman to install a fixed one, which is significantly cheaper. However, this is not recommended.
We have to keep in mind that no manufacturer would put that relatively expensive part in the first installation that it really didn't need. It is there to contribute to comfort, better functioning and greater durability of the vehicle. Namely, if you install a fixed flywheel, the vibration of the engine will be transmitted to the transmission, which will damage much more expensive parts.
