Oil lamp

Even if you think you know everything about oil, consult the manual and check what the instrument panel light means. Check the oil level regularly and top up properly so that there are no major malfunctions

In any such situation, you should be very careful and follow the instructions of the manual, even when you think you know everything about car oil. It should be remembered that manufacturers have different ways of signaling, so with some models turning on and off the yellow lamp, indicates the oil level is too high.

In addition to the yellow, there is also a red oil lamp, which is often mistaken by drivers to indicate an oil shortage. This may be the case, but most often the problem is either the oil pump or the the wear of a component on the crankshaft bearing, connecting rod bearing, camshaft. There may be a loss at that point, but also a drop in oil pressure. When the red oil light comes on while driving, therefore, you should slow down and reduce the speed and find the nearest safe place to stop. It is best to get information from the manual immediately, and then - if possible - contact a service technician.

Immediately it can be visually checked whether the oil has spilled out of the engine or may have been leaked, but much more than that cannot, and it should be known that the consequences can be catastrophic. Drivers can go wrong by continuing to drive: they check the engine oil level and it may be tidy or it may be a little lacking, so they can just top it up and move on. By that, of course, they did not remove the cause of the problem that lit the red light so in the worst case the engine may be destroyed.

Sometimes, it can be a false alarm, or a malfunction of indicators, infosystems, installation or management, but to confirm this, it is necessary to go to the service and measure the oil pressure in the engine, and not rely on the free assessment of the driver. So, when it lights up red, it should by no means be ignored, but rather stop and ask for help.

Briefly

Although drivers rarely check their oil levels, just like tire pressure, some say it's wise to do it as often as possible. If the plug is dry and not greasy after driving, it may also indicate that something is wrong with the lubrication. After refilling the oil, remember to tighten it and return the meter to the end.

It is always wise to have a spare liter of suitable engine oil in the boot, as accidents often happen in the wrong place and at the wrong time. Each bottle of oil bears the viscosity mark as well as compliance with the car manufacturer's standards

Everything the driver needs to know about oil and its modification is written in the vehicle manual. So if you don't know what a lamp means, don't guess but check
